Over the past few years, artificial intelligence has begun to play an important role in the development of the world of technology, but it is expected to occupy higher ranks among countries' national security files in the coming years, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.

It is noted that the increasing development and widespread use of artificial intelligence tools has begun to force countries to take the necessary precautions against security vulnerabilities.

Reports interested in this field confirm that the development of artificial intelligence will lead to an increase in cyber attacks, and electronic piracy will become more effective.

Before the end of 2023, some countries signed a series of draft laws that control and restrict the use of artificial intelligence, in order to prevent possible negative consequences of this field, and to ensure security.

United States initiative

The report stated that the US administration issued a decree in October 2023 aimed at preventing risks arising from artificial intelligence. Under the decree prepared by order of US President Joe Biden, new standards for artificial intelligence security were introduced.

While the decree aims to protect Americans from the potential dangers of artificial intelligence systems, companies that develop these systems are required to share the results of security tests and other important information with the government.

Under the decree, organizations must establish standards for security testing and address cybersecurity risks. In order to protect people from fraud, new laws have been introduced to detect and verify content created using artificial intelligence.

European Union

In December 2023, the European Union Commission, Parliament and member states reached an agreement on the world's first artificial intelligence law.

Under the law - which was approved by the European Union and is expected to enter into force this year - artificial intelligence will be regulated according to an approach based on the potential risk of harm to society. Stricter rules will be imposed on high-risk AI systems, and clear criteria will be defined to distinguish AI from simple software systems.

The law will also ensure that artificial intelligence does not in any way affect the efficiency of member states or any organization specialized in the field of national security.

In parallel, the entry of high-risk artificial intelligence systems into the European Union market will be subject to a set of rules and obligations.

Artificial intelligence increases the risks

In turn, Albert Ozbilen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish “Bavo” group interested in the field of artificial intelligence, said: The development of artificial intelligence technologies provides opportunities and creates risks in the field of security. He added that more sophisticated cyberattacks are expected to emerge in the coming period as a result of the development of artificial intelligence, and concerns about personal privacy will increase
